    Default Hat identification......

Hello everyone, I found this hat in an auction, not sure if it's authentic or not and could use some expert opinions? I've been googling and having trouble finding one similar. I noticed the size is a 53, I can barely get it on my head, anyway who would have worn this stryle? Youth? Females? And is it authentic? Ty.

    Hello KristianFerrell,
this wants to be a HJ-Winter or Ski-cap (which would explain the small size), see here: Hitler Youth Hat
The eagle does not belong on such a cap to my knowledge. I can't say either whether this is an original HJ-cap as I know too little of these, wait for the specialists' opinion.

No expert on these but i thought there should be an RZM label and as said above the adler does not belong with it. The cap it's self could be anything, they were worn in Germany and Austria from the 30s until the 50s by everybody from schoolboys to farm labourers!....

I bought one at the fall fair in Bonn Beuel in September 1974 when I was a student at the University of Bonn, and I still own it.
I wish I could find a new one, too. The Baschlikmuetzen they have today are not nearly as nice as the ones from the post war epoch.
I have a hat hoarding problem, as this website suggests, and it is very hard to find this kind of hat in normal hat stores.
They are made by the ton for reenactors and such, but without poetry.

Hennes and Moritz even sold a version of the thing in the winter of 2010 in Wien, and I bought two of them then, too.
But they are not really in the same cut.

Wolfgang is a specialist. Mr. Mint has images of authentic ones of these in the pay to view area of the hat cosmos.
