Hello,
It is a Bergmütze meant for Gebirgstruppen.
What you call a M43 cap for Gebirgsjäger is something else.
First of all guys, pls remember that the Gebirgsjäger is a "branch of service" of the Gebirgstruppen. The mountain troops are the Gebirgstruppen, not just the Gebirgsjäger.
In June 1943 when the Einheitsfeldmütze (M43 cap) was adopted, it was meant to replace M34s/35s, M42s and also Bergmützen. So before this date, Gebirgstruppen wore the Bergmütze and after this date, replacement or new troops received the Einheitsfelmütze (that promptly received an Edelweiss in most cases).
Thanks
The sacrifice of life is a huge sacrifice, there is only one that is more terrible, the sacrifice of honor

My apology! Now I gotta do a little more study on these troops themselves other than just their uniforms. Thanks a lot for that!
