Default Medical Officer’s Schirmmutze, likelihood of originality?

Hi there, this is a Medical Officer’s Visor cap. Looks the part on the outside however not sure about the sweatband / lining. Usually with the originals it’s a tan / cream sweatband & for officer’s often very nice lining. Also the peak on the inside is usually orange & also no makers mark here. Just a dark brown sweatband with the inside of the peak in green. Does this mean it’s a post war cap or not. Apologies about the photos, they’re all that’s available of it.Medical Officer’s Schirmmutze, likelihood of originality?Medical Officer’s Schirmmutze, likelihood of originality?Medical Officer’s Schirmmutze, likelihood of originality?Medical Officer’s Schirmmutze, likelihood of originality?Medical Officer’s Schirmmutze, likelihood of originality?Medical Officer’s Schirmmutze, likelihood of originality?Medical Officer’s Schirmmutze, likelihood of originality?

I share your doubts to some extent. I know Weitze - they wouldn't sell a fake by intention (for more than € 700,-). In this case the features you mentioned yourself are, however, peculiar.
At the end of the war almost everything was possible - peaks with green underneath, originally meant for police caps (or, if edged, for LW-caps) were used for WH caps. Brown sweabands were used, too. (Check for triple-serial no.! - If there are such stamps on the back of the sweatband at least the sweatband is fake!). The pictures do not have the resolution which would be needed to give a final verdict - I can't e. g. define the fabric used for the lining - it looks peculiar, not only is colour (check whether this is natural fibre or artificial by burning a thread of it). The shape is also unusual as is the fabric for the body of the cap. But it still could be a late war original example.
Would love to read what the specialists think. Perhaps you could post some high-resolution pictures of the interior (top panel with the missing sweat shield, pleating of the lining, are there any empty stiches on the peak, etc.)

Thank you. Well suspicions are always there when one is listed on eBay like this. I doubt very much that this is the cap that came in the box shown.

For me it just doesn’t look like a German cap, the shape or anything. I think it’s very likely to be a pretender. But I agree there’s a chance.

Medical Officer’s Schirmmutze, likelihood of originality? Looks like the experts out there decided in favour of this one being original.
