Welcome from me too.
The cap is a fake which started life as an East German Officers cap. The lining has been removed and a totally bogus lining crudely added which has a fantasty makers mark printed upon it. If you look closely at the cap band you can see the holes (either side of the deathshead) where the original NVA cap insignia has been removed.

Many thanks for your knowlegable help! Bought from a so called "reputable dealer" in Perth Aus.
Einmal gebissen, zweimal schuchten!!
Try and obtain a refund if at all possible.
Cheers, Ade.
Shouldn't be too much trouble as there is a sign displayed on cabinet stating they do not sell fakes or replica's!!
I did admit to seller that I was a novice, and was told the extra holes around the Totenkopf was the result of the owner moving up in rank!
Thanks again.
Hi,
the insignia alone would have put me off, the details are terrible
good luck on getting your money back. and hope you find a decent
Cap.

Do not let the dealer use the excuse that internet "experts" are not reliable. That may be the case on some forums but not here. This is truly a bad fake attempt.

Thanks to everyone for sharing your knowledge. Will be a few more days before I can return to the shop for a refund, so will keep you posted.
Will be making a small donation to help keep this excellent forum online, as I'm sure to use it in the future. Thanks again!
