Hi Matt,
the cap itself appears to be a period one. Problem with the greens is always which shade it is - this seems indeed the Panzergrenadier - green. As this is a very sought-after Waffenfarbe be careful - do a thorough examination of the piping - is it really original or was the white piping of an infantry cap coloured? The best way to check this would be to try to look behind the lining - at the back of the cap where the lining overlaps. There you can in most cases take a look "into the bowels" of a cap without damaging any seams. From there you should be able to see the back of the piping. If it is panzergrenadiergreen there also then chances are good.
The other thing is that - although I don't know how this can be done sensibly - the entire piping was perhaps changed. This was offered by cap makers of the time and seems still to executed by fakers. So check the cap thoroughly for holes from a previous seam (also the lining of the top panel inside) etc.
From these pictures alone I can't really tell. Perhaps the specialists can.
Thanks for the advice ..i had never thought that piping could be re coloured
Regards Matt
We have to distinguish between period exchanging of the piping (see here - "Mütze mit neuen Biesen versehen": Panzer Officer's Schirmütze), simply colouring white piping with a felt-pen and, more sophisticated, exhanging the piping post-war (I admire people who can do this, as a lot of skill is involved). Any markings under the sweatband?
Can we see some "under the hood" pix?

Matt--any reputable seller should be more than willing to provide photos under the sweatband upon request.
If he does not want to, that alone is enough for me to not bother.
Panzergrenadier is an uncommon (and at the same time very desirable) piping, so one has to tread carefully with these.

BTW, there are some very high-end fakes of PzG visors--a few are in this thread:
