Period buttons? Authentic cap??

Hello all. I have scoured our forum to find such buttons on any soft cap but have failed. I have an opportunity for what appears could be an authentic cap for $200 but could also be a $15 fake. I again call upon my friends for the facts and of course a tutorial that will lead me and others to learn to walk in our own. Thank you in advance. These are the photos I received.

I always would use caution and much skepticism if there are not other period examples of said headgear being used/worn. With that said there are possibilities of "field modifications" that would go against the norm, but without provenance and other valid forms of proof I would be very cautious..

Too many things raise suspicions, the buttons, the smudged ink stamping, the polizei insignia.... Each item should be carefully scrutinized and examined...

And I know it is not a showstopper but most of the field caps I have seen have the tri-color cockade above the eagle insignia as well....Just saying...

I am assuming that this is supposed to be Civil Protect Police? I dont have my Police Reference Books handy at the moment..

Your caution and skepticism is well earned and appreciated thru your real life studies of this wonderful world of collecting. I welcome and thank you for this timely post. I will certainly not jump onto this item, but will either not buy or await any deeper referenced info you may be able to gleen.
