This cap is hard to judge. I was looking at the pictures the seller has posted & thought it looked interesting. He doesn’t know when it’s from unfortunately & always makes it harder when all insignia has been removed.

This is no artillery cap. Looks like a customs reproduction.

Thanks for the quick reply. I went through pretty much all of the auctions on eBay Germany today & this is a hot item with plenty of bids. Already hitting €100 with a day left on the auction.

If anyone on the forum has a good quality reproduction cap or any less fashionable German WWII caps they are looking to sell on let me know.

I don't feel at ease with this one - the ersatz-material sweatband has a row of stitches on the upper end as if it had already been sewn in the other way round. The piping doesn't seem to be the bright red artillery version either, at least on these pictures it looks more orange and it isn't very even either. Nor do I like what remains of the sweatshield. I am rather with Vocht, to be 100 % sure, you might wait for yet another opinion of one of the specialists.

Here is what one of these looks like untouched (also made by Pekuro):

Wow! Thank you Stonemint, what a beautiful cap that is in original state. Makes total sense now why people would bid for it. I hope they can restore it to condition similar to that excellent example.
