I looked, found a “Beste Qualität,” but no Masonic symbol. Again, anyone familiar with this maker/distributor/counterfeiter...?

IMHO this is a fake sweatshield - it wants to be G. A. Hoffmann who had a similar logo in his later caps. Is the only picture you have? If you had a picture of the cap itself it would be easier to tell, for some info on the Hoffman/Berolina logos see here:

    Beambte Visor cap
Need help on WW2 German Officer's uniforms
1938 G.A. Koffmann nazi visor Berlin real or fake?
Luftwaffe Hermann Goring (RGG) EM visor by G A Hoffmann
    Heer General's Schirmmütze
    Waffen SS Officer's Visor Cap

I knew that I had already treated this subject, see here (post # 5):

It is not masonic--it is a crude rendition of the Hoffmann logo.
(it is "GAH" superimposed on each other).

The logo you posted is from a Latvian fake.

There it is, I figured it was a fake maker tag. Thanks much!
