    Default Rare (and fake?) caps

    Ladies and Gentlemen,
I happened to find this site and the caps there are very rare, very expensive - and, IMHO all quite well made and artificially aged fakes. Does anyone know this dealer? If you take a closer look at all these caps several similarities (I won't elaborte which ones in order not to further this/these quite diligent faker/s) will strike you - although, apparently, the caps were made by different producers (regarding the logos on the sweatshields). Perhaps all this has already been treated here - then simply disregard my thread (I couldn't find anything about this dealer so far), if not I am looking forward to the senior experts' opinion.

I have not encountered this dealer but all those visors have fake insignia for certain. Not one authentic skull or eagle on any SS cap. I believe they are well made fakes as well. The website looks like page after page of very "rare" (but fake) caps mixed in with an occasional authentic common cap. All the M43 caps of every branch look similar and look like they were made yesterday. Shameful dealer

Thanks Al for your confirmation. The person/s who made and artifially aged these caps surely know a lot about cap making - luckily not enough to deceive everyone. I just saw such a cap in a French collection on a French forum yesterday - tried to send them an e-mail, I am not sure whether it will be passed on/appreciated by the person who certainly payed thousands of bucks for a fake.

I cannot say much about the Schirmmütze, but I will definitely not ever buy a medal from that business. Terrible fake EK's, packages, fake DK's and a lot more bad news. The complete Souval postwar collection is offered and sold for real!

I see SS helmets... Man... Shameless!

I think I have seen this crooked dealer called out before on some forum.

Yep, those caps are definitely made to deceive.

I am afraid that this "Panzer-SS cap" which originated my thread came from said dealer:

    Panzer SS casquette d'officier

(Not sure about the other caps for lack of pictures.)

Wolfgang this last Panzer visor you posted was not on the original links nor did I find it on the website. The others had obvious fake insignia.
This insignia looks like it might be a nice Deschler skull. The inability of people to take a close macro photograph of the insignia always leaves some doubt. The eagle looks good to me as well.
Perhaps our colleague "anotherant" can help us out. He is skilled in evaluating the insignia insitu

As for the hat itself I like what I see but I have little experience with the grey variety. It may stand a chance. I'm not sure if this is the one you refer to as I see multiple caps on the thread.

Al, thanks, as always, for your valuable contributions. This one was not the Italian dealer's website so I don't know whether it was acquired there. I found it on the French site and it struck me as very similar (sweatband, typical [artificial?] aging of the lining) to those of the Italian dealer + gilt (?) buttons, irregular seam at the back, missing forehead-pressure cork etc. relief... If the insignia are originals so hopefully the cap is, too. Would be glad to be wrong for the owner of this cap. Perhaps one of the senior specialists will see this and make a comment. As there are so many very well made repro-caps/fakes out there I have perhaps become overcritical.
