Mike, if this is a hat in your possession you should post some interior shots as well, and maybe some more close-ups of different areas of the cap. I personally have some problems with it. I don't like the look of the insignias and the stitching under the lowest ring of piping is horrible IMO. Just some points I notice. But wait for more informed opinions as I am not very experienced with Schirmmützen (visor caps). But it doesn't give me a good feeling.

    Hi

Interior shots would be helpful if you have them but it looks like a standard issue infantry other ranks cap to me. What is referred to as a contract cap.

If the inside lining is rusty brown cotton that's correct and if you look under the sweatband it should have some stamps either manufacturers or distributers marks.
If your really lucky maybe even unit stamp !

    overall ok I think.

I would agree with Tony, so far so good.

Might just be my inexperience, but isn't the cap eagle a little soft on the details? Then again there were different producers with a different quality of manufacture.

Hi Kenneth, better pics would confirm, but it looks like one of the cheaper later eagles with the edge prongs, sometimes these are not of brilliant quality.

    Cheers, Ade.

You are probably correct there. I should just shut my mouth and learn instead!

    Hi Kenneth

You could be on the money with the eagle. I find they are hard to nail down just by a photo.

This one has been re-applied looking at it's position on the cap.

It is way too low and looking at the pins it has just been pushed throught the outer material. That could be a reason to be cautious in its self.

I don't have a problem with the eagle myself....but you never know.........

There seems to be a rather large rip to the trikot where it overhangs on the left side (of the photo as we see it)

hi thanks for the info! i'm afraid to pull the sweetband because the leather seems a little loose! the interior is light brown with a 541/2 in the middle of a plastic protective!
