Waffen-SS EM/NCO Visor Cap

I've been searching for one of these accursed grey caps for weeks and haven't been able to find any except this one on Ulric of England.

It costs nearly $8k USD, but at this point I doubt I'll find a cheaper price (given that I literally haven't been able to find a single other cap of this type on sale). Haven't been able to get better pictures from UOE, but I'm wondering what WRF thinks about it:

Hard to make a decision based upon those poor, dark photos, but isn't $8k getting close to officer's cap territory?
Not a fan of this dealer either, with inflated prices and a shaky reputation.
Personally, I would keep looking.

You're correct - they actually do have an officer's cap for sale at the same exact price.

Thanks for the heads up on this dealer. Looked them up on the forums and I'll stay away from them.

Hi gents, I didn't want to post a new thread for this since I've already done three in my feverish search for a SS cap to complete my display.

This cap is going up for auction tomorrow and I'm thinking about throwing in a massive bid to snatch it. I've checked the insignia and compared it to other cap models and it looks accurate to my beginner's eye - but I wish to know what WRF thinks. Is it correct?

I'll leave it to the specialists to comment on the authenticity of this cap.
Nevertheless here are some observations: the sweatband (with very unsual embossing) has been repaired/resewn, the thin gaberdine fabric is very untytipcal, there are no pictures from behind the sweatband (or are there?), the cap has a leather peak the underneath of which has a very untypical colour which was handsewn to the cap (normally a good sign) which would make it, if authentic, very very pricey - without further, detailed pictures from the distinguishing parts (how the piping joins, inside shots behind the sweatband etc.) I would be extremely careful.
I am looking forward to the experts' opinions.

Agree 100% with Arran--I have scored some real nice hats from Grenadier's auctions, and nowhere near Ulric's prices (+ Bruce is a straight-shooter).
