hi Jerry what you have there is a senior NCO s cap ,, what was known as an un,dress cap ,im sure it had a more correct description , but i never made that rank so i dont know
IE staff sgt up to RSM
this cap was still warn to my knowladge up to 1982 and beyond

What is the difference between the one I posted and what an officers SD cap would look like? Did the officers have a different motto, because if it was a different regiment I would assume it was an officers version, either late war or early post war and it has the officers chinstrap or at least something very similar to the officers type. I assume as they would be a tanks regiment the officers would wear the black beret or the coloured FS cap and not the SD cap.

Hi all,
Interesting thread. Just thought Id share my thoughts, for what its worth, Officer's cap would have a different chinstrap without metalwork with gilt or staybright buttons.
