Tough question, Bill.
Depends on where you are to start with. Obviously they are more common in the UK and, therefore, tend to be cheaper.
Condition is a major factor. To my mind a few salt stains on an RN cap enhance interest.
Original badges (to a good fighting unit) and matching buttons help.
Provenance too. Officer's kit normally dearer, but army early war enlisted caps are scarce.
Have I missed amnything?
A simple off the wall number....$100 US and up.
Your best plan is to check out a few websites.
BTW, the Brits don't use the term "visor" for British kit, nor "crusher" for RAF caps.
Hope this helps.
Pat
Hi Bill, I can agree with Pat's comments.
We call them "Service Dress Caps".
Army Officers caps being the cheapest to find, being the more common branch of service and Officers got to retain them after leaving the Forces as they were of course private purchase.
RAF caps and Royal Naval Officers Caps both make better prices.
Cheers, Ade.
