Jerry, have you identified the dark grey FS cap with light grey crown piping? It seems identical to one of mine.

not yet. It is of the type issued before WWI, from the liner and the leather sweat band. It is probably for a Yeomanry unit, but there is little known about many of the early caps.
You're quite right Jerry, I was hoping mine was in fact white and grubby but when I looked at the piping from the inside it was clearly grey.
Mine is the same Luc, clearly grey on the inside. Still a mystery yet to be solved. One suggestion was that in the case of my example it might be yeomanry from circa just prior to WWI, as mine has the flatter top and a leather band typical of the earlier period.
