Default Extra Rare US Navy Ballcap

    Hi Gents,

I'm excited to show off this new cap that was Given to me today. I know that these are quite rare, so much so that I am having trouble finding any decent information on them. I have no doubt it is original, but what the heck could RAFSOB signify??

it has an imprint of an oakleaf rank insignia on the front (commander/lt. commander?). It is more obvious from the inside where there is significant verdigris staining from the old clasps

Thanks Gwar. I guess that means its a private purchase cap (as most were)

I was also told on a different forum that it is more likely a US airforce cap from the post-war era. The acronym most likely means: Regular Air Force Son of a B****h

A little disappointing that its not WWII, but still pretty funny regardless

As an aside that sounds a bit like the banter between Brit regular army and reservists who were once referred to as Territorial Army Volunteer Reserve or TAVR therefore "TA" in which the regulars referred to TAVR as STABS (Stupid TA Ba****ds) whilst the repost was to call the regulars ARABS (Arrogant Regular Army Ba****ds) so you often had "STABS and ARABS" as a name for a joint bar for instance

And here I always though "New Era" was a more modern company. Only started seeing caps made by them starting in the very late 70's and early 80's...but then again...never really paid much attention.

A cool piece however. Now go find a vintage glove, bat and ball and you have a nice display
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated

My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

That’s a whole other area of collecting I’m too old to get started in haha
