    The A-11 leather flight helmet was an intermediate helmet standarized in 1943 and was one of the most widely used in the ETO. The cushioned earcup mountings were made to fit the ANB-H-1 receivers. The first models had a liner made from the pelts of south african ans brazilian hair sheep, and were later substituted for chamois. The outer shell was usually made of sheepskin leather. The model A-11 flight helmet saw service in Korea too.

    I hope it helps. If you want to start collecting AAF items, I recommend the book "Combat flying clothing" by C.G. Sweeting. It is an awesome piece of literature.

    Gus, you have educated yourself quite well in that particular field.
    bssweeny that is a very nice example. It's too bad that there is some fraying below the left lower ear phone.

    Yes, too bad, seems a little leather rot there but all else is very tight and clean!
