Did officers wear silver badges in WWII and if so, are there hallmarks?

Tony they switched to silver or silver plated circa 1915 and carried on after. Only the silver would hallmarked and are rare, whilst the silver plated are unmarked or might have S or P on them.

Outstanding cap indeed Jerry and a real find to have a photo of the officer wearing the cap! What a piece of history. It is a shame you cannot find out more about the officer.
