Side cap identification

Article about: Hi All, Can any one identify this side cap, picked it up at a boot fair with a load of other military headgear, the stuff ranged from the 1940's to the 1980's. A mix of countries, so no help

    Hi All,
    Can any one identify this side cap, picked it up at a boot fair with a load of other military headgear, the stuff ranged from the 1940's to the 1980's.
    A mix of countries, so no help there.

    Apologies if it's in the wrong section just thought the cut matched British side caps.

    the cut is as you say the same as the British version, though the colour of the fabric looks wrong for a UK cap as does the lining material. There are some units that used plain buttons, but usually in brass for some cavalry units.

    I cannot offer more than a wild guess as to which nation/force this is for, so I won't.

    Hi, thanks for the reply, the material is almost German TR.
    The only side cap I have come across with those buttons was an Irish volunteers one.
