Strange ball cap

I picked this cap up this weekend and can't find any info on it. it was in with a grouping of a transport pilot. Anybody ever seen one . Thanks for looking Gary

Great looking cap, I will check my Air Force uniform books but I believe that Gunny Hartmann is correct that it was a private purchase item..

Although Bancroft is a well known supplier of headgear to the Armed Services, this may be one that the pilot purchased outside of military supply chains..

Very nice to see with the visor still present too..
