    Default US Army Officers Cap

Hello, I’ve had this for a long time now I paid 20 dollars for it probably 4ish years ago. I’m pretty sure it’s and Army cap, I was wondering a time period, I was thinking probably fairly new but not sure. Everything is there including the packing paper and dust cover. Thanks for any help it’s always appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Bodhi

    Nice one Bohdi,
I'm not an expert on dating visors.I'll be watching to learn something on this one!!!
It is a Army Officer visor.
The one thing that has me wondering is, it's a Bancroft in a Flight Ace box.
Like I mentioned not an expert but those are two different companies.

    It is a beautiful visor!!!

I'd date this one to the mid-late 50's
Army green started in 1954, Bancroft started in about 1901.

I was wondering that myself why it’s two different companies but It does have the guys name written on the box, I guess anyone can do that though. The style on the box I think says 6/50 but I can’t really tell, maybe someone could match the style to the cap? Thanks for the reply!

Ah sorry Rene you posted while I was typing, thanks for the date, 50s is good news. If the box is original to the visor I’ll be even happier but just the dated visor alone is good enough for me.

    Thanks,

    Great looking hat..

It was not uncommon for hats to be stored in hat boxes from different makers.. They were switched all the time.. This person may have had Flight Ace hat at one time and kept the box so the hat wouldn't get crushed...

Either way you have a name and you could possibly research it..

Thanks for the help Smitty, I have given him a basic research but it’s always hard because most of the time there are more than one person with the name. Is there any places you go to research or any tips you could please give me?

    Thanks for the help,
    Bodhi

    Bodhi,
Smitty made this great tutorial on how to search the National Archives.
Here is a link to it in the research section.
