Assistance requested identifying this side cap.

Good Morning,
Would really appreciate some help with identifying this cap. This was the price of a beer, so no need to hold back. It certainly doesn't conform to any standard side cap. A colleague has suggested that it is a "volunteer cap". Not entirely convinced, but may simply be a bad modern day poor copy. Would love some opinions. Thank you again.

Modern copy made from old wool but the lining does not match the wear and will be polyester.

Looks fab from the outside (in an old and interesting sort of way).. what a shame to stuff it up with such a naff lining.
Then again, it’s a good thing. I’m not in favour of fooling anyone.
Could be an old theatre costume..
