Erel visors - post war
Hey Ya'll,
So that's the deal with these reproduction visors? Are they really made to the same standards of the old EREL VISORS?
Third Reich, Nazi & WW2 German Visor Caps - Reddick Militaria
The site claims that the visors were made in the same factory using same specs
, etc.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

The A-SS visors bills bottom looks nothing like originals. The color is too light where the originals have more orange color to them. You'd have to get one and dissect it to discover more but from what I see it's pretty easy to reflect what it is, a reproduction. There will be some taken in by these as is usually the case. A reenactor gets it, wears it and over time the condition will reflect that use and that could confuse some of what they are looking at.

Gotcha thanks Rick!
I'm sure the color and fabric will have some differences.. but it is cool to know that the original company is still manufacturing them. I was just wondering if the new "post war" visors are the same quality as the originals.. but you're right.. you probably have to get one and dissect it and make comparisons to originals to make a determination...
Do I hear a YouTube video review about this??? Hahahhaa!
Anyways thanks!

The current Erel repros are light-years removed from the real deal, both in terms of construction and materials.
Erich Fritsche obtained the Erel trademark some time in the 1990s, and I doubt they are made in Germany (more likely China).
The original factory was taken over by the East German government in 1949 and became a VEB.
While the building still exists, it is now high-end condos.

Awww,.. well.. hate to hear that!
I wouldn't be surprised if China is manufacturing them.. so other than manufacturing repos.. does EREL make visors for any military or perhaps for the bundeswher?

Wow.. I see. Worlds of a difference.

Now that is cool!!!!!!!!!!
Wow.. so crazy how some parts of Germany changed after ww2.
I wonder if the residents living there know the history about their building!
If I lived in Germany, I would love to live there hahahhaa.

BTW, we have an entire thread dedicated to Erel here:
