Hi guys

I've reserved this cap but not paid for it yet.

I thought it looked ok after doing some research and I wanted to get opinions from yourselves who are more experienced.

Thank you Lt Col. I'm hoping it's not. I haven't parted with any scheckles yet and am waiting on Bill Unland to chip in, think he had about 20 of these at one point.

I knew I had a bergmutze photo in my collection somewhere. And, as a stroke of luck, it has vents in the same place as the one I have now purchased

This would be one for the vents-specialists - with a close-up of the vents they can tell whether they are period or not, I am no specialist for Bergmützen, sorry.

Here is an example which was identified as fake: Bergmütze for Review (post # 1)

compared to what was considered original: Bergmütze - named/unit marked (post # 18).

Vents per se are not a guarantee for authenticity. As I wrote on the forum across the water, the issue is the manufacturing details of the inside of the earflaps which are typical of an M43 field cap, not of a Bergmütze. I’m not keen on this specimen.
