I know you all know I like "stonemint" items, but I made an exception for this one, as it is just a killer cap in terms of shape and matching insignia (albeit tarnished).
I posted a stonemint wreath here for comparison to show what the color of the bullion would have looked like when new.
However, with wear on a ship or in salt-water climates, bullion was prone to tarnish (and is a reason celleon became so popular, in addition to cost):

Beautiful cap. I've owned several original KM visors but never an Erel. Out of interest is the band stiffener the usual waterproof treated woven fine buckram type material or pasteboard ? Not being prolific KM headgear manufacturers I'm thinking they used the standard stiffener construction as on theri other headgear.
That looks great. Congrats.
Interesting info about the removable top for 'white top wear.'

Beautiful visor Stonemint ... congratulations.
Wonderful, rare cap, in great shape. Congratulations.

Great cap and thanks for sharing the finer points of it.

Whatever its just an opinion.
Yes, I've had a couple of junior grade Officer caps with celluloid stiffeners but the vast majority have been fine buckram - usually white but occasionally black. On the other hand all of the NCO visors and sailors caps I have had have been celluloid, never seen buckram on anything but officer visors.
What a beauty.
