The Provenance is good, a family of German origin, a man of approximately 70 years and the cap would have belonged to his father. However, I would like to know the forum's opinion.
The cap itself could be an early Erel, the cap eagle doesn't fit and the cap cords don't either. There were "tubular" cords, but they looked different, see here: https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/attac...6syjhm8vew.jpg

I agree, transitional piece with some odd features.
As Erwesa points out, it should not have a political eagle, but either a cockade, or the first type WH eagle.
The cords are civil, and the buttons are not typical for WH Officers or NCOs.
Are there any markings under the sweatband?
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
This is what I mean by the first type WH eagle.
At the same time, I cannot discount the possibility that the M-27 political eagle is original to the hat, and was worn for a short time as an expediency measure.

This thread gives an idea of the transitional visors worn from 1933-34:

“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
Tony's lovely Infantry officer visor does utilize the tubular cords (but officer buttons):
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
One other question--is the rain cover original to the hat? They are very rare, as they do not hold up over the years due to being made of cellophane.

Hi, I agree with the transitional cap theory but with added pieces. Not sure about the eagle and cap cords being original to the cap but never say never.
Nice early erel cap. I'd have it on my shelf.
My officers cap is now in a new home........the steins are not mine but the new custodians ! Another collector of distinction and fine taste if I don't say so myself.
cheers
Tony
Thank you very much for your help and opinions, it is certainly a good piece. The covertor is the cap, is in good condition, only with the passage of time has lost elasticity. Regards
