Apparently BenVK who used to join this forum some years ago is a specialist for repairs. It is not a big problem to fix the visor/peak. More difficult is the sweatband - it is in a very bad state so that you'd have to find a suitable period one which is near impossible as nobody would sacrifice one for a WH artillery cap (if at all, such a sweatband would be transferred to one of the 10 K + caps) and it would mean to spend some hours of stiching with original thread using the original holes. All that would cost almost as much as the cap itself if not more. But it can be done.

That sounds complicated indeed. But just re-attaching the visor with some stitching is maybe worth the investment?

I surely would do it/have it done. It is a nice cap. Get yourself a leather needle (round tip) and a suitable thread (silk for buttonholes) in a suitable colour and try to find the original holes in the cardboard stiffener of the centerband. Be careful so that the stiffener doesn't break. The needle must come out in the seam of the piping so that the stitches can't be seen as in this one I made:

Thanks. I will give it a try soon. Ill update with photos when successful.
p.s. is there anyone who has a photo with a soldier wearing such a cap with a matching uniform? I printed the foto next to the cap, but that's actually a officer version. Doesn't have to be highres. Just enough to print one for the display.

Here's one...
You can look in the section called visors in wear..

Or you can choose the rock uniform.. Here's one of mine..

Very nice one. Did they wear a belt and an edged weapon with that to? Or only on special occasions?
