I don't know if any of you noticed Martin's commentary about the cap, but a tunic was found along with the cap. I inquired about the tunic, and Martin said it was indeed an SS Officer tunic. I was hoping he would reveal more, but all he mentioned is that the "picker" kept the tunic. It would have been nice to see both articles as they were removed from the trunk, don't you agree?

P.S. Friedrich-Berthold - who do you know that repairs this kind of damage to a cap? It would be nice to see some of this person's "handiwork" some day!
"under the hood" is request ! Martin is a very Good Gent....
I would also be interested in knowing if this hat could be restored to a more pleasing appearance, without doing further damage.

The cap is right as rain IMHO. For a cap of that rarity I could look the other way on condition. Hey ugly women need love too.
I have a similar one as this with the same traits . Probably the same maker.
Hi Gents,
the cap that started the thread is a nice original one. When it came out of the woodwork it just had the eagle on it, the TK was missing. The original eagle was removed and a matching set was placed to the cap.
The cap wasnt found with an "SS Officers jacket" but with an ultra rare SS VT jacket without insignia.
The price for both was a steal...
Here is a pic of the eagle that original came with the cap. The jacket was next to mint, with correct markings and liner....
Bests Olle
