This is a very rare Luftwaffe Officer's visor for a number of reasons. First of all, it is a WOOL white-top (most are waffle-pattern cotton). Second, it is an early Erel, and note the white lining and sweatband. Most distinctively, note the cream underside of the visor--there is only one other LW Erel that has this feature, and that belonged to Goering:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
This hat was originally the property of Bernd von Brauchitsch, Goering's adjutant, who surrendered with him to the Americans. (He was also General von Brauchitsch's son). It must have been ordered at the same time Goering put in one of his (numerous) orders to Erel:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
This beauty now resides in the collection of my friend from down under, advanced LW collector Bob L. Here is a comparison of one of the Goering Erels and this one:

Very nice - what a pleasure it would be to see in person!
Personally, if I had my choice, I would pass over any one of HG's visor for this one . . . kudos to the current owner, and a special "Thanks" for allowing us to share in it's beauty!
