I couldn't leave this thread without adding one of my favourite shows of the 1970's, Enemy at the Door. It is centred on the German Occupation of the Channel Islands, (Guernsey), during the war. Sadly the producers never finished the story as they only produced 2 series. Still this is a very good show and is worth a watch. Some say it is dated but I think that is to be expected and in my opinion it holds up very well indeed.
    All episodes are on youtube!

I thought I would join in on this nice thread. Here are two stills from the movie 'The boy in the striped pajamas'.
Maybe not one of the greatest movies, but still one I enjoyed watching.

I'm going to add another film that I've seen this year that I enjoyed very much. Of course the best film ever on Rommel is 'The Desert Fox' with James Mason. However this is a very good film and worth a watch. It follows the last 7 months of Rommel's life including his part in the 20th July plot. A lot of work went into the details of the settings and uniforms and that makes it feel very realistic. It might not be to all tastes but I enjoyed it.

Wow !! "The Gallant Men". That's going back a way. I only remember my older sister commenting how good looking the Ltn. was. I don't remember him or any episodes.
Private "Pete" could get the ladies too as well as the Company Commander. I think the series started in 65? while Combat started in 63?

Also, a lot of what i have seen in The Gallant Men-as far as insignia-etc-appear to be good-with the exception that all German lids-or most-are either late WWI or transitional lids.

Both "Combat" & "Gallant men" started in 1962. G.men only lasted 2 seasons though. So I was six years old...
Maybe it was "Private Pete" she liked...or Rick Jason the Ltn. from Combat. Not sure...
