Default WWII Nazi German Army “Other ranks” Peaked cap (Schirmmütze), fine condition

Hi everyone, I found this cap for sale in the states & thought it had a nice look to it. I thought I would post it here to see what others think of it.

This is said to be a super honest and original WW2 example of the M1934 German peaked visor cap in Army Infantry trim. It has a black chinstrap which makes it an “other ranks” version as worn generally by non commissioned officers and some enlistedmen. The body is early War field gray felted wool and the visor is made of vulkanfibre synthetic material. There is minor discoloration and wear with some minor insect nips present. There are no visible modifications or repairs. The white infantry piping is fully intact. The dark green badge cloth center band is in fine condition. There is a zinc eagle, aluminum wreath and nickel cockade with red felt bulls eye. The synthetic vulkanfibre chinstrap is in fine condition.

The interior is fully lined in off white pleated and fancy weave silk. There is minor discoloration and obvious wear and staining present from actual use. There is a rhomboid shaped moisture shield that is 100% intact and the sweatband is medium tan leather. It remains soft and supple overall with minor discoloration. This is said to be a real WWII veteran bring back and 100% authentic and original in all respects.

Great looking cap which the Cap Gents will comment further on it...but just for some knowledge ..Unlike the SA SS HJ and NSKK the German Army were not a political functionary of the Third Reich and were not Nazis.

One had to be a party member with a party number to be a National Socialist " Nazi " which not all of the Political branch members I named above had party numbers. Just a Tid bit of info that many mistake these artifacts because of the swastika being Nazi.

    Welcome to the forum.

Thank you Larry, that’s really great information. Something I actually had wondered. So the soldiers within the German Army would have had their own opinions I’m sure & it is unfair to use the term Nazi in the broader sense. Soldiers are trained to simply carry out orders after all.

And I have seen different versions of Nazi Party badges numbered to the back as well. It is a good point though to separate the Political Party from those simply serving the state & carrying out duties.

The cap is a Kornacker with a replaced sweatband - Kornacker sweatbands often were made of Ersatzmaterial and tend to disintegrate.

Cap is in average-poor condition. What is the dealer asking for it?

$595 plus postage & packing, then to EU there would be customs. It’s for sale at a dealers called The Civil War Shop if anyone wants to buy it.

Here is another by the same maker that I would consider to be in "fine condition", and has an asking price of $775:

Stonemint, I would buy that. Who is selling that one? It’s a good example.

Has anyone else seen that cap for sale that Stonemint posted. I can’t find it anywhere. And no reply from Stonemint.
