And HoundsTooth, That wood burner has not been used since I moved in 25 years ago. The stovepipe is blocked off and the insulation in the attic keeps it at the same temp as the room.
When I moved in, there was some soot on the ceiling around it. The guy who helped me paint the house said that it was from the wood burner.

So since I live in an area that doesn't require much heat, it has never been used.

I like it for the display, Kind of like the Yanks around it for those cold and damp British nights!!!!
