    Default Display cabinets lighting questions?

    Hey Folk's,
I hope all is well with everyone.

I have one of those 4 tier glass display cases arriving this week,
So I was looking into lighting for this.

First off, I'm getting one of those clapper on/off switches to mess with my grandkids!!!

But I know certain light will damages and lighten/fade Material.

So since I'm old school and only know about incandescent and florescent I have to ask this,

    Can LED lighting cause damage?
I'm asking because I see there are LED light bars that fit in/on every level/shelf.

So let me know LED, BAD or GOOD for this. It will have my Haube and my WW2 US officer crusher/visor and enlisted mans Visor, B-1 cap.
All materials I do not want to fade or have a shadow ghost when I remove insignia.

    Hi Phil,
I don't think you should have a problem with LEDs.
I am also assuming that these are not something you are going to leave on all of the time.

I don't think it will be, I would just be a little wary of the heat produced by lighting, LED, or otherwise.

I think this should answer your question

What Light Sources Will Fade Artwork and Fabrics?

I find that the limited heat from LED (bulbs) is limited to the socket area. The lights them selves remain cool to the touch. Not sure about the RGB light strips. My son uses them and they don't seem to get hot.

    Thanks Guy's.
Also a big Thanks Michael for that article.
I used to have a long florescent bulb in my big display case until I started reading about the damage that can be caused by light. This room is incandescent and florescent free. Just soft light LED. And the window has a black out curtain so no direct sun light either.

This case will allow me to move the headware from that Franklin stove and move my Aunts in the middle of Phil and Joe display when This mannequin shows up the day after the case shows up!!!

I'll do my to get pic's posted of it when done.

These are the strips that were suggested for this cabinet.
