May 4th, 80th 'dodenherdenking' in the Netherlands.

Today, on May 4th 2024, marks 80 years since the first (somewhat) official 'dodenherdenking'.

Today, at 20:00, (in around 30 minutes of writing this) everything here in the Netherlands will fall silent for 2 minutes. Transport will stop, and food will not be served in honor of the fallen of WW2. Tomorrow is the 80th anniversary of the Dutch liberation.

But, being the collector that I am, I can't let this chance go to show my makeshift American uniform/Allied display. (mostly consisting of Dutch stuff)



For if you're curious, here's a quick equipment overview:
- Jacket I found in the store, added a Hell on Wheels patch to it
- British pike bayonet
- Some field bottle of unknown origins
- Dutch munition pocket with a camo bandana inside of it
- DDR messtin
- Dutch belt
- Dutch M53 helmet
- French 15th motorised infantry banner ? (Sorry, don't know the English word)
- Original US field/navy cap stamped in New York
- Original US field bottle stamped 1944
- Dutch M1 Garand clips w/ fired bullets
- 37MM US tank shell

PS: If I get more accurate stuff, I'll post it again next year!

PS PS: It's almost 20:00 as I'm done writing this, time really flies when you're having fun, huh?
