The latest (and temporarily final) version of my D-Day British officer, the latest addition being a 1944 made British lifebelt. The boxes I inherited from my family (they had nilly-willy to take a passive part in the D-Day landings and ensuing operations) and both stones come from Arromanches, where part of my family lived until the mid-fifties.

I had a question about the black ammo boots, by the way (these are post-war, unfortunately) : from what I could see here and there, British officers seem to have worn such black ammunition boots - would anybody on here know whether this was common practice or under what cicumstances officers were likely to have donned those boots?

Just in the Red room. (Tiles are red and when the sun would hit the floor the walls turned a reddish hue. Hence Red Room) That's all blocked off now with Black out curtains and sun shades.

I still have my Great Uncle's Navy uniform coming , So there will be a swab jockey in there soon..

We have discussed who gets what bedroom when the my Son's move out. But I'll keep mine where they are and I can move her stuff out of the Red room to make room for more of my stuff!!!!
