On May 6, 1945, the 1st Armored Division of General Stanisław Maczek captured the Wilhelmshaven fortress. The command of the "Ostfrisland" fleet capitulated to the Poles.

The commander of the 1st Armored Division, General Stanisław Maczek in Wilhelmshaven ended his combat path. During the fights in Poland 1939 and France 1940, during his stay in Great Britain 1940-1944 and fights in France, Belgium and the Netherlands 1944-1945 he used the famous Polish armored leather jacket model 1936, but in Wilhelmshaven he was wearing an American jacket (British production) Mackinaw Jacket Coat. Recently in Germany I managed to find such a jacket from 1943, it was in terrible condition, but I'm working on getting it out of this state of collapse

Still working on my Battle of Normandy Canadian, with the addition of a Canadian haversack (or small pack), among other things. The haversack and its L straps definitely look as if they had been blancoed and would have been more suitable for an Italian campaign mannequin, but beggars can't be choosers, can they? I should receive a General Service Shovel in the days to come - as the shovel comes from Amfreville, in the vicinity of both Sword and Juno beaches, it could be directly related to D-Day landings.

There is still one element that is not perdiod correct in my setup: the belt. Those I could find were far too expensive to my liking - WW2 Canadian belts seem to be as scarce as hens' teeth on the market...

A Captain in the Reconnaissance Corps.

    He is shown wearing:
1944 dated black beret with Reconnaissance Corps cap badge
Post war cap with a reproduction cap badge (it’s there just for show, however, the likelihood of me finding an original cap, and then being able to afford it, are very slim)
    1944 dated Service Dress tunic
    1945 dated shirt
    Period tie
    Sam Browne belt
    Period officers leather gloves
    1944 dated Service Dress trousers
    Period private purchase officers boots.
