Very nice relics Kanonier. What's the concrete weights for? Counterweights of somekind? Nice wooden presentation box you made for it. Also, did you dig them up yourself, and if so, what area? I'm just full of questions. Thanks for showing.

    Hi Jay and thanks
It's not a concrete weight or counterweight it's a part (but yes it's made of concrete, nails etc) of a German Stockmine 42
Orig. German WW2 Stockmine 42 w/ Stake, Fuze, & Repro Demo Charge: Ostfront - German and Russian WWII militaria
and the wooden presentation is made of a wooden Polish vodka case
All of my finds come from my house in the 40's a German SA man and a WWI veteran lived in it. Back in 1945 there was a hell of a firefight between the Germans and Russians in my house, so when my family came from the east in 1949 my grandfather gathered most of the stuff they left behind. A couple of months ago I've found a few things in the basement. I've been collecting and trading since 1992 so some of them come from my friends. If you got any more questions go right ahead.

Thanks for the informational link on the mine. That's a new one to me. I guess the concrete makes the shrapnel. Ingenious and cheap to make. I love reading family history of people on this forum, it really brings things to life.

    Take care,
    Jay

    Hello Jay
I just love to collect this stuff because it's not expensive and easy to buy and find. Some of my relics were just laying around in old houses, barns, in the attics and basements.
A few photos of my German ZZ42 Zug Zuender, one was made in
    J.Duderstadt, Metallwarenfabrik /Esslingen.

New item in my collection. Two days ago one of my supervisors gave me this Leuchtpistole casing. I think I have to clean it up a bit (the cap is a bit rusty).

Looks fine to me. I would not bother cleaning it.
