I picked that early black SS canteen up many years ago. I was always searching and looking for many years on the internet for a period photo in use. I picked up the SS album and chance had it that a period photo of that canteen on an SS man was in that album. Also a vertically hung SS dagger on the man so it is kind of cool to see them both in wear. Makes the history come more alive.

That is amazing how the album has a photo of the both items in use plus the tornister aswell is that ss vt unit? dont look like allgemeine because of the light colors.
