Updating the TK collection thread with the last Deschler of the year
Regards, Al
One a sidenote: Regarding the M1/52 Deschler in post #101. Al, would you agree the silvering and dark "spidering" across the front silvering matches the age seen mostly on the "unmarked Deschler" type skull? I do not want to hijack the thread but for me this a +1 adressing this unknown maker to Deschler.
I am at work so am unable to read a lot of the threads at the moment so as to learn more.
I have the opportunity to purchase a Totenkopf and would like to do so before any laws change here in Australia.
The Totenkopf in question is described as an unmarked second pattern Tombak.
From what I have read so far, these were possibly fake.
What to do?

Some say they are and some say they ain't.
I suppose even marked Totenkopf's are out there.
I have read that the second pattern did not come in tombak.
I own one and I'm sure it's authentic. I have the luxury of being able to compare it to many other TK's in detail. The issue is that many of these TK's have begun to surface in the last few years so that casts doubt with many collectors. If you're buying it with the intention of selling it in the future then you are better off finding one of the conventional skulls.
Here are two good threads with a lot of back and forth on the subject. ultimately you have to decide for yourself.
Unmarked Waffen SS skull - mint - Need a mint eagle to complete set
Minty Unmarked TK
Here is one that sold for $2k on a website
SOLD Mint, Unmarked SS Cap Skull, Fine Example - SS-Steel

Please rename the thread to "Make me drool again" thread! Wow, that's an amazing collection and thank you for sharing it.

In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig. CE
Thanks Aldo, I have asked for a refund if I purchase it and am not happy with it on inspection when received.
I will then take better pic's of it and hopefully you are willing to make comment on it please.
Looking at it from the back, I have noticed that the right pin is attached to the lower crossbone and the left pin to the upper crossbone. Is this a red flag?
Examples that I have seen have them both attached to the upper crossbones.
I have also noticed the right pin tip is angled opposite to others I have seen so from the dealers pic the tip angle seems to be a mirror image of the left. Is this another red flag?
It is hard to be sure as the left pin is sitting beneath the right one.
Hope that makes sense.

There were three others ahead of me showing interest so missed out on the purchase.
Better luck next time. Thanks.
