Prong bar looks odd, Most if not all were aluminum in construction and a RZM M/4 License was
required to produce these.. Hence the RZM maker number as well as and including RZM KH or RZM UE, Others may contradict as I may be wrong...Thanks for posting Gwar
Here are a few of my examples, If indeed yours is steel and deemed original
than you have a "Great" buckle in hand... Again, Thanks for posting...G
I don't know a lot about DAF buckles, but I agree with Gwar; in my opinion, this is a fake. There are steel DAF buckles, but most of them are fakes and this one is very reminiscent of those.
To me too, the steel example shown here looks like a typical fake. BTW, Gwar, love your nickle silver (?) Steinhauer! Would you like to post a full picture of the reverse for reference?
I seem to recall David North has shown a steel Werkschar by Berg und Nolte somewehere on this forum. I have an unmarked steel one, but construction details are also typical for Berg und Nolte. Sorry, don't have photos I could post.
Kind regards
Kurt
Kurt D, Yes David North's example is exqusite.. Look under past threads, Steel DAF Buckles... You will find his post.. He, along with Ben Evans and a host of other members have been my inspiration to collect and observe.. I have the utmost respect for their dedication and contributions to the "Forum" .. Good Hunting Kurt...G
Gwar, thank you for the additional picture! Just to avoid doubt, this one is made of nickle silver and not steel?
Kurt
Sorry to say but the buckle is a fake, bad prongs, catch, detailing

[QUOTE=leej11;1260066]Hi,
I picked a lot of items up today from a family.
Alll is original except I noticed the DAF buckle is steel and I am quite clueless on DAF buckle but only know these steel ones are harder to find , I combed the net and could find no unmarked steel DAFS, does anyone know about this one?
Best.,
Lee
Hello,
sorry but in germany this steel variation is known as fake !
The DAF was not in time period for steel buckles .
Mostly are Aluminium and early variations in nickel silver .........

Markus

Based on the photos, it seems to be painted steel or maybe nickeled steel.
