Can you not zoom in a bit closer to the blade? With those photos it's difficult to be certain it's damascus or a good imitation damascus etched blade. I tend to believe it's a real damascus blade, but would like to see some close up pics of the blade. The blade shape suggests German military dagger.
I have seen this army-luft blade on ebay and the description and the no reserve made me look very carefully to this blade (that is limited by the quality of the pics)
I think its a damascus etched blade.
It looks like a former Klaas luft or army blade.
The tang hole is typical for Klaas plated blades.
Imo its an overworked Klaas blade etched in the 70ths.
Would also like to hear other opinions

I have attached pictures of an unmarked German Luftwaffe dagger with damascus blade
Is it real or fake?
Thanks

So this is a different blade to the first one you posted? The second blade, from the one sharpest photo appears to me to be an imitation damascus etching.
What about the first blade with the hole in the tang, how about a closeup photo? Actually side on images and cross section would help as damascus is layered and folded steel so different angles are needed to see that the effect is not just surface, as in a etching.
I have added images of a German 2nd Luftwaffe damascus dagger
Is it real or fake?
Thanks for your response. Yeas this is a different blade.
I chose an diff thread for this, but dont know what going on with this site. My new thread for the 2nd blade disappeared.
I will create images of the first bald and attach again.
Why is the first damascus blade fake or repro, when the links below are considered real

Luftwaffe Dagger with Damascus Blade
Can someone or anyone who claims to be an expert in these tell me how does one differentiate a real vs a fake or Indian damascus blade? Want a technical response no an opinion since there must be someone who actually has a technical response
Is it the layers, grains, pattern or what is it that defines fake vs real vs Indian?
