Default Holler 2nd Model Railway Dagger

    Hello all,

New Member with a question. Did Holler make a 2nd Model Railway dagger? I can't remember if it was strictly Eick. or not. I ran across this one on the web for sale and was curious. You can see it does not have the Flaw in the crossguard, but that may have been just an Eickhorn issue. Looking for comments. Thanks!

Well standard maker is indeed Eickhorn and the design was by Paul Casberg.
There are also examples made by Hörster and unmarked ones are also known ( 3rd party ones with the guard showing the Eickhorn flaw)

The one you show might very well be as bad as the portepee it bears.

I would agree that this example has an Army blade added to parts that may or may not be period.

The crossguard flaw is no longer a litmus test for authenticity on a Bahnschutz dagger. There are MANY out there and they have the flaw too. Also, there are very occasionaly an early Bahnschutz dagger that will not have the flaw.

Due to the proliferation of the reproductions, I would suggest buying this model dagger only from a reputable source that knows good from bad. Also, many of the fakes on Eban and elsewhere will often be priced at roughly half what an original goes for. Remember that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
