Thanks Wim!
This is a real horror story. I have stuck this thread.
Cheers, Ade.

Had good advice? Saved money? Why not become a Gold Club Member, just hit the green "Join WRF Club" tab at the top of the page and help support the forum!
Maybe a good idea to inform auction sites like hermann militaria , weitze and such.
Utter bastards!....
What an horrible news.
How can you stole a life time collection like that ?
Belgium is not far and i alert my close friends.
We are all concerned.
Words fail me!
This is apalling and my initial thoughts would be that in the circumstances there must be a very local connection. This is not a simple burglary for sure.
This material is not easily sold on and will be confined to a relatively narrow market unlike cars, jewellery etc but that only makes tracing it marginally easier.
It is a must to circulate the images as far as possible amongst collectors and dealers but my worry is that the whole collection already has a destination set and that it will certainly be divided up for distribution in areas fairly closed to the traditional collecting community; areas where there is a currently growing interest in TR collectibles that co-incides with vast amounts of "new wealth". Places with many "Oligarchs" or "Mandarins".
This incident just makes me feel really low as a fellow collector but also as a fellow human at the thought of how the victim will be affected by this. It is also very sad to think that it is likely that the local police will be less than enthusiastic notwithstanding the value because of the nature of the stolen items.
Regards
Mark

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing he cares more about than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature with no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
I spoke to him just a minute ago and he will give an email-adress
to report!
And yes, the word has been passed on where it is possible and
spread at forums and the collecting world.
When I will get photos from mr. Gillain, I do not know yet,
but he is working on it. The shown photos in the headgear-
thread, do include material which was sold in between.
These buyers did purchase the material in good faith!

Sorry,
I cannot give more information about the theft, as I haven't
got the asked information from mr. Gillain. Nor did he send
me the special email-adress, he promised me to send. Neither
did he send me photographs from the most rare or his favorite
items, that were stolen.

Does that seem suspicious too you?
You'd think someone that had their collection stolen and that had a friend on this forum asking for an e-mail address and pictures to post here so many people can keep a watchful eye, would send pictures and his e-mail address almost right away. I don't know what's going on, he could be dealing with the authorities and contacting others, so perhaps he's busy, but I know if my collection was stolen, even if it's not a huge collection, I would, aside from calling and dealing with the authorities, right away ask for help from members on this and other forums to keep a watchful eye just in case any of the items were to resurface.
I cannot force nobody. Maybe he is busy and does not
see the urgency. I have no ideas what is going on and
about the development.
The last time I did speak to him the police was investigating.
It is mr. Gillain's responsibility, to show material, or?
Myself I would like to see photos from my stolen stuff at
forums as soon as possible!
