Have you read Anthony Beevor's book Stalingrad? This book was highly referenced in the making of that particular film. The accounts from this book show just how desperate the fighting was. The heroes, the room to room fighting, and grief are stunningly represented. Beevor uses historical facts to paint a terrible battle and ultimate victory. Brutal and a page turner.

I didn't go much on the film as it was " Enemy at the Gates" in name only.To much Hollywood fantasy IMO.

I've enjoyed all of Beevor's three books, D-Day, Berlin and Stalingrad. They make you want to keep reading, full of historical facts and individual stories and cameos. Great reading.
I will look up the above mentioned book though.

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
