    Interesting photo indeed. Wool, did you hear that I found out that my GGD was originally in Das Reich. I wonder if he was in a tank crew.

    Woolgar, you wouldn't happen to know the exact date the photograph was taken, would you? Very interesting picture, thank you for posting.

    The background looks odd for Normandy.
    I think more likely Southern France.

    The women in the photo are actually Red Cross 'Doughnut Dollies' who manned (or should that be 'womanned'....) the coffee and doughnut supplying American Red Cross "Clubmobiles" that were a moral booster for the troops. Each Clubmobile was a GMC 2 1/2 ton truck manned by 3 ladies and each small group had a 10 vehicle complement. They first appeared in France during mid July 1944.

    I was thinking the same thing Chris, the coastline looks far too high with a higher point in the background
