Interesting photo indeed. Wool, did you hear that I found out that my GGD was originally in Das Reich. I wonder if he was in a tank crew.

I specialize in M1 carbines and Lugers.
The background looks odd for Normandy.
I think more likely Southern France.

The women in the photo are actually Red Cross 'Doughnut Dollies' who manned (or should that be 'womanned'....) the coffee and doughnut supplying American Red Cross "Clubmobiles" that were a moral booster for the troops. Each Clubmobile was a GMC 2 1/2 ton truck manned by 3 ladies and each small group had a 10 vehicle complement. They first appeared in France during mid July 1944.
