    i often wonder what ever became of the field marshal batons we often see in photos??? they would be worth mega money if one ever came out,
    i was reading on some web page somewhere that a ex tommy had one and sent it off to be valued and got a fake back in return!!! any of you guys read that??

    These items would fetch a huge amount of money on the open market.

    yes, I heard that story ; but it seems a "urban myth " to me ...
    I had one in my hands once, but it was a 19 th century French one.
    I believed we had one in the old Royal Military Museum, but I am not sure!
    The museum Nick recently showed some pictures from.
    Always looking for Belgian Congo stuff!

    That is not a Field Marshal baton but it is THE Reich's Marshal baton of Hermann Goering, conqueror of Poland and France.
