Insuring My deactivated Weapon Collection
I have now started to get quite a large collection of deactivated weapons, missiles, bullets, helmets & bayonets and was wondering if anyone else has theres insured if so where do you get it, are you covered on your house insurance or do you have to take a seperate policy ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

Re: Insuring My deactivated Weapon Collection
Hi Andy, I trust you are in the UK?
If so, try this company:
Stamp Insurance Services
They cover militaria collections. £20,000 worth of cover is about £110.
Most household policies would not cover your collection. You also need to keep proper records of your collection: a written description and a photo. Don't keep this at your house. Keep a copy eleswhere, parents home or at the bank etc. Having good records is no good if the house burns down.
Cheers, Ade.

Re: Insuring My deactivated Weapon Collection
Here in the U.S. you can get what they call a "rider" on your homeowners insurance fairly cheap. I know several guys that have twenty or more guns and thought their homeowners would cover them. Big mistake! Like Ade said, take pictures, document value, and buy a rider.
