I have learned this morning that SAS hero John McAleese MM passed away yesterday. He was famously photographed on the balcony at the Iranian Embassy siege in May 1980.

It is only 2 years a week ago that he lost his son, Searjeant Paul McAleese in an IED explosion in Afghanistan.

A real hero and hard man has passed away,I'd like to think perhaps he's having a brew with his lad up there right now.

The best of British, R.I.P. Mac.

    Hi Adrian,

He was 60. Here's a linky to this mornings paper regarding Mac. SAS hero John McAleese of Iranian embassy siege dies of suspected heart attack | Mail Online

I just hope for St. Peter's sake he had the pearly gates open, ready for Mac, otherwise he'd of taken them off at the hinges with his Remington 870...

A lad I know once asked him the "What did you do next?" question. He replied, "I gave him the good news mate!" Nails.

    Regards, Ned.
