Hello
Great advice ! Thanks
I have been saved from buying a coupal of fakes so far ...
It shows that knowledge is everything. Don't buy into the tall tales, know what you're buying or ask here on the forum for opinions. You can find a good item among the bad but you need to know what to look for. Not for the inexperienced!
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
thanks good info
Thanks for taking the time to scribble this down Ade!
A useful recipe of advise towards buying and selling safe
I seriously think you should make this a sticky, for several reasons. It's good advice to others, and i am working on opening a relics web shop, so i would have to search for these good guidelines a lot. I can of course save a link to it.
See something you like?, do your research before bidding, if you're unsure, there's plenty of info about everything on the web, not forgetting the various forums. Any alarm bells ringing, walk away. Personally I see nothing wrong with a good replica item, for display or enactment groups, or as a fill in until the real thing comes along, providing they were declared replicas when they were offered for sale and priced accordingly. It's the shonks, shysters and outright crooks we have to watch out for. Incidentally Adrian's tip of asking for photographs taken on to-days newspaper is well worth remembering. Thanks Ade. Something learned every day no matter how old you get.
But now I'll have to watch for a bad cut and paste job as well. Ah me, it does but never end.
