One of my German M16 helmets has a liner I'm struggling to identify. I bought it (15) years ago. The helmet exterior has been repainted white and the interior grey. Burlap was added below the liner and the helmet lugs are plugged with mud for warmth. I thought perhaps the helmet was purchased and used by the Finns in the Winter War or Continuation War but I'm not sure about the origin of the leather liner. Can anyone identify the liner? Any help would be much appreciated.
